Hadith 1000
Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) says: In the days of ignorance, I was a blacksmith and ‘As bin Wa’il owed me some money. I used to go to ‘As to demand my debt. Once, ‘As said to me, “I will not give it to you until you deny the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” I said, “Even if Allah gives you death and then resurrects you after death, I will never deny the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” ‘As said, “Then leave me until I die and am resurrected, because at that time I will have wealth and children, and I will pay your debt.” Upon this, these verses (Surah Maryam: 77, 78) were revealed: “O Prophet! Have you seen the one who denies Our verses and says, ‘Surely, I will be given wealth and children (if I am resurrected after death)?’”
