Hadith 990
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from the Commander of the Faithful, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), (to meet him), but he was not granted permission. (At that time) Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was occupied with some work. So Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) returned. Then when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became free, he said, "I heard the voice of Abdullah bin Qais (Abu Musa Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him), grant him permission." So the people said, "He has already gone back." Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) called him again (and asked, "Why did you return?"). He replied, "We were commanded to do so." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Present a witness for this." So he went to the gathering of the Ansar and asked them. The Ansar said, "The testimony for this will be given by Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who is the youngest among us." So he took him (to Umar), and he testified (that it was the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him). Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained hidden from me because I was busy traveling in the markets for trade."
