Mukhtasar Bukhari

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was asked whether the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade fasting on Friday. He replied that yes, he forbade it.

Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Juwayriya bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her on a Friday and she was fasting. He (peace be upon him) said: “Did you fast yesterday?” She replied: “No.” Then he (peace be upon him) said: “Do you intend to fast tomorrow?” She again replied: “No.” So he (peace be upon him) said: “(If not) then do not fast today, that is, break your fast.”
