Hadith 830
´Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both)´ came near the tent of Hajjaj after the sun had declined on the day of Arafah and called out in a loud voice, so Hajjaj came out, and he was wearing a cloak dyed with safflower. Hajjaj said (to Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both), "O Abu Abdur Rahman! What is the matter?" He replied, "If you want to follow the Sunnah, then you should proceed (for Wuquf)." Hajjaj asked, "Right now?" He said, "Yes." Hajjaj said, "Give me a little time so that I may pour water over my head and then proceed." So Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) dismounted from his ride (and waited) until Hajjaj came out. Then he began to walk between me (Salim bin Abdullah) and my respected father (Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both). (Salim bin Abdullah says) I said to Hajjaj, "If you want to follow the Sunnah, then keep the sermon short and hasten in Wuquf." So Hajjaj began to look towards Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). When Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw this, he said, "He (Salim) is right." And Abdul Malik (the king of Sham) had written to Hajjaj (who was the governor and Makkah was also under his control) that he should not oppose Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) in Hajj.
