Hadith 674
`Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that` he (peace be upon him) said: "When a servant is placed in his grave and his companions turn back after burying him (then the deceased becomes aware to the extent that) he hears the sound of their sandals. Two angels come to him, make him sit up, and ask him: 'What did you use to say about this man, that is, Muhammad (peace be upon him)?' If he says, 'I bear witness that he is the servant of Allah and His Messenger,' then it will be said to him: 'Look at your place which was in Hell; Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.' The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said that he sees both places. But as for the disbeliever or the hypocrite, he replies: 'I do not know; I used to say what the people used to say.' So it will be said to him: 'You neither understood with your intellect nor followed (the righteous).' Then he will be struck between his ears with an iron hammer, because of which he will let out a scream that all creatures near him will hear except humans and jinn."
