Hadith 548
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would supplicate for the salvation of poor Muslims and invoke curses upon (the disbelievers of the tribe of) Mudar... This has already been mentioned earlier (see the Book: Description of Witr... Chapter: Reciting Qunoot before and after Ruku). And in this narration, it is stated that in the end, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "(O Allah!) Forgive the tribe of Ghifar and grant safety to Aslam (the tribe of Aslam)." Ibn Abu al-Zinad narrated from his father that all of this took place in the morning prayer.

Hadith 549
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw people turning away (from accepting the invitation to Islam), he prayed (to Allah): “O Allah! (Send upon them) seven years (of famine) like the seven years (of continuous famine) during the time of Yusuf (peace be upon him).” So famine overtook them, which destroyed every kind of vegetation, to the extent that people began to eat hides, carcasses, and rotten animals, and due to hunger (their weakness became such that) when any of them looked towards the sky, he would see something like smoke. Then Abu Sufyan (who had not yet embraced Islam at that time) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, “O Muhammad! You command the worship of Allah and maintaining ties of kinship, and indeed these are your people (who are dying of hunger). Pray to Allah for them.” So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed to Allah for them. Then Allah the Exalted said: “So wait for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. If We remove the punishment from these disbelievers, they will still disbelieve. Its punishment will befall them on the Day when We seize them with a mighty grasp.” (Ad-Dukhan: 10-16) Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the “grasp” (i.e., seizing) occurred on the Day of Badr, and indeed (in Surah Ad-Dukhan) the “smoke” and the “grasp,” and (in Surah Al-Furqan) “Lizam” (confinement), and the verse mentioned in Surah Ar-Rum—all have already occurred.

Hadith 550
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): I often remembered the saying of the poet and looked at the face (blessed) of the Prophet (peace be upon him) when he would supplicate for rain (Istisqa). He (peace be upon him) would not descend (from the pulpit) before streams would begin to flow everywhere. (The poet's saying is:) "Fair is his complexion, the protector of orphans and widows. People seek rain by virtue of his countenance." And these are the words of Abu Talib.

Hadith 551
Narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that when people were afflicted by drought, the Commander of the Faithful, Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), would ask for rain through Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him). He would say: O Allah! (Previously) we used to supplicate to You for rain through our Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and You would send down rain. Now we supplicate to You through the uncle of our Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so (now also) send down rain. (Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, says that) it would start to rain.
