Hadith 512
The hadith of Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the pulpit has already been mentioned (see the Book: Description of Prayer... Chapter: Performing prayer on roofs, pulpits, and wooden platforms) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed on top of it (the pulpit) and then stepped down backwards. In this narration, it is further mentioned that when he finished, he turned to the people and said: “O people! I did this so that you may follow me and learn my (method of) prayer.”

Hadith 513
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): There was a trunk of a date-palm tree which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to stand by (while delivering the sermon). When a pulpit was placed for him, we heard a sound from that trunk like the crying of a pregnant she-camel for ten months, until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came down from the pulpit and placed his hand on the trunk. (Then the sound stopped.)
