Hadith 501
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "All of you are guardians (i.e., rulers and responsible) and all of you will be questioned about your subjects. The Imam (leader) is a guardian and he will be questioned about his subjects, and a man is a guardian over the people of his house and he will be questioned about his subjects, and a woman is a guardian in her husband's house and she will be questioned about her and her subjects, and a servant is a guardian over his master's wealth and he will be questioned about it and his subjects." (The narrator Ibn Shihab) says: I think he also said: "A man is a guardian over his father's wealth and he will be questioned about his subjects, and all of you are guardians (i.e., rulers) and all of you will be questioned about your subjects."
