Hadith 294
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon one day and said: "Indeed, Allah, the Exalted, gave a servant the choice between (the world) and that which is with Allah, so he chose that which is with Allah." Upon hearing this, the leader of the believers, Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), began to weep. I said to myself, "What is making this old man cry? If Allah gave a servant the choice between the world and that which is with Allah, and he chose that which is with Allah, then what is there to cry about?" But in the end, it became clear that the servant referred to was the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself, and Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) was the most knowledgeable among us. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Bakr! Do not weep. Indeed, the person who has done the greatest favor to me, with his companionship and his wealth, is Abu Bakr as-Siddiq. And if I were to take a close friend (khalil) from my ummah, I would certainly take Abu Bakr, but the brotherhood of Islam and its love is sufficient. And in the mosque, all the doors except the door of Abu Bakr should be closed."

Hadith 295
Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), during his illness in which he passed away, came out with his head tied with a bandage and sat on the pulpit. Then he praised and glorified Allah, then said: "O people! There is no one who has done more favor to me with his life and wealth than Abu Bakr, and if I were to take anyone from among the people as a close friend (khalil), I would certainly have taken Abu Bakr as a close friend, but the brotherhood of Islam is superior. Close every window in this mosque except the window of Abu Bakr."
