Hadith 277
Narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that there was an Abyssinian slave girl belonging to an Arab tribe. They had set her free, but she used to stay with them. She narrates that (once) a girl from that tribe went out, and she had a red leather amulet on her body. She says that she herself took it off, or it fell from her, then a kite passed by that way and the amulet was lying (on the ground). The kite thought it was meat and snatched it away. She says that those people searched for it but could not find it, so they accused me of taking it. She says that they started searching me, even to the extent that they looked at her private parts. She says, "By Allah, I was standing with them when suddenly that kite passed by and dropped it (the amulet)." She says that the amulet fell among them. She says, "I said, 'This is the very thing for which you accused me. You suspected me, although I was innocent, and here it is.'" Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that then she came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and accepted Islam, so she had a tent in the mosque, or (she said) a small room. And she used to come to me and talk to me. And whenever she came to me, she would always say, "The day of the amulet is one of the wonders of our Lord's ... powers ... Be aware, it is He who saved me from the city of disbelief ..." Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says, "I asked her, 'What is the matter that whenever you come to me, you always say this?' So she narrated this story to me."
