Hadith 128
('Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Humran, the freed slave of Hazrat Uthman, informed that) Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) called for a vessel of water and poured water on his palms three times and washed them. (Then he took water in his hand) and rinsed his mouth and cleaned his nose. Then he washed his face three times and both hands up to the elbows three times, then wiped his head, then washed both his feet up to the ankles three times. Then he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution like this ablution of mine and then offers two units of prayer in which he does not talk to himself with his heart, all his past sins will be forgiven."

Hadith 129
‘And in another hadith,’ Amir al-Mu’minin Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said (after performing ablution): I will tell you a hadith; if there were not a verse of the Qur’an, I would not have told you this hadith. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: “Whoever performs ablution well and then offers prayer (any obligatory prayer), then the sins committed between that prayer and the next prayer will be forgiven.” (Urwah said): That verse (from Surah Al-Baqarah) is: “Indeed, those who conceal what We have sent down of clear proofs and guidance…” till the end.
