Hadith 105
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), while Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind him on the mount, said: “O Mu’adh bin Jabal!” He replied, “At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and I am ready.” (Then) the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “O Mu’adh!” He replied, “At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and I am ready.” (Then) the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “O Mu’adh!” He replied, “At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and I am ready.” This happened three times. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever testifies with a sincere heart that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, Allah makes the (Hell) fire forbidden for him.” Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Messenger of Allah! Should I inform the people so that they may rejoice?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “If you inform them, they will rely (only) on this (and stop acting).” And Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith at the time of his death, fearing the sin of concealing knowledge.
