Hadith 70
`Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that` he (peace be upon him) said: The example of the guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like that of a heavy rain which falls upon the earth. The land which is clean absorbs the water, then much grass and fodder grows from it. And the land which is hard retains the water. Then Allah benefits people through it; they drink from it, give it to their animals to drink, and irrigate their crops. And some of the rain falls on another part of the land which is a barren plain; it neither retains the water nor grows any vegetation. Thus, this is the example of the person who understands the religion of Allah and benefits from what Allah has sent me with, so he learns it and teaches it. And the example of the person who does not even raise his head towards it and does not accept the guidance with which I have been sent by Allah (is like the barren, waterless land and the plain field).
