Hadith 58
‘Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says:’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a letter by the hand of a person and instructed him to deliver this letter to the ruler of Bahrain. (So he delivered it.) And the ruler of Bahrain forwarded it to Kisra (the king of Persia). Then when (Kisra) read it, (out of his wretchedness) he tore it up. (Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both,) says that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he invoked a curse upon those people, saying: “They (too) shall be torn to pieces in the same way.”

Hadith 59
‘Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that’ when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to write or wrote a letter (to the king of Rome or Persia), it was said to him that those people do not read a letter without a seal (i.e., they do not give it importance). So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a silver ring made, on which “Muhammad Rasul Allah” was engraved. (Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, says: It feels as if) I am (even now) looking at the whiteness of it in the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Hadith 60
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) that (one day) while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting in the mosque and people were sitting with him (to benefit from him), three persons came. Two of them came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and one went away. (Abu Waqid, may Allah be pleased with him, says) that both of them stood for a while near the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then one of them saw a space in the circle and sat there, and the other sat at the back (where the gathering ended), and the third went away. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished (his sermon), he addressed the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and said: Shall I not tell you about the condition of these three men? One of them turned to Allah, so Allah gave him a place, the second felt shy, so Allah (also) was shy with him, and the third turned away, so Allah (also) turned away from him.
