Hadith 57
´Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that` once we were sitting in the mosque with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man came riding a camel. He brought his camel into the mosque, made it sit down, and tied its legs. Then he asked the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), "Who among you is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?" At that time, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting among the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), reclining on a cushion. So we said, "This fair-complexioned man who is reclining on the cushion (he is Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him)." Then that man said to you, "O son of Abdul Muttalib!" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "(Speak,) I am listening." He said, "I am going to ask you something and I will be a bit harsh in questioning, so do not find it unpleasant in your heart." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Ask whatever comes to your mind." He said, "I ask you by your Lord and the Lord of those before you (tell me the truth), has Allah sent you to all mankind (as a Prophet)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "By Allah! Yes (indeed, I have been sent as a Prophet)." Then he said, "I ask you by Allah (tell me the truth), has Allah commanded you to establish five prayers in the day and night?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "By Allah! Yes." Then he said, "I ask you by Allah (tell me the truth), has Allah commanded you to fast in this month (i.e., Ramadan)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "By Allah! Yes." Then he said, "I ask you by Allah (tell me the truth), has Allah commanded you to take this charity from our wealthy and distribute it among our needy?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "By Allah! Yes." After that, the man said, "I have believed in this (Shariah) which you (peace and blessings be upon him) have brought, and I am the representative sent by those of my people who are behind me, and I am Dhamam bin Tha’labah, belonging to the tribe of Banu Sa’d bin Bakr."
