Hadith 81

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that (on one occasion) some questions were asked to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) which were contrary to his temperament. (So he did not give any answer, but) when there was a flood of such questions before him, he became angry and said: "Ask me whatever you wish." So a man said, "Who is my father?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Your father is Hudhafah." Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Who is my father?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Your father is Salim, the slave of Shaybah." Then when Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw the signs of anger on the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! We repent to Allah, the Most Great and Exalted (meaning, we will never ask you such questions again)."
