´Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to my people in Yemen. When I returned, I found that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Batha. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me, "With what intention did you enter into Ihram?" I replied, "I entered into Ihram in the same way as the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Do you have a sacrificial animal with you?" I replied, "No." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to perform Tawaf of the Ka'bah. Accordingly, I performed Tawaf of the Ka'bah and (Sa'i) between Safa and Marwah. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to come out of Ihram, so I came out of Ihram. Then I went to a woman from my people and she combed my hair or washed my head. Later, when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became the Caliph (and I narrated this hadith to him), he said, "We do not know what kind of hadith this is. If we act upon the Book of Allah, it commands us to complete Hajj and Umrah, as Allah the Exalted has said (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 196): 'And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah.' And if we act upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not come out of Ihram until he had offered the sacrifice."
