Sayyiduna Abu Humayd Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We fought in the Battle of Tabuk along with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When he (peace be upon him) reached (the place) Wadi al-Qura, (he saw that) a woman was in her garden. The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said to his companions: “Estimate (how many dates are in her garden).” And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) estimated it to be ten wasqs. Then he (peace be upon him) said to her: “Take care to see how many dates are produced from it.” Then when we reached (the place) Tabuk, he (peace be upon him) said: “Tonight there will be a strong wind, so no one should stand up, and whoever has a camel with him should tie it.” So we tied the camels, and a strong wind blew. A man (by chance) stood up, and the wind threw him onto the mountain called Tayy. And (in this battle) the king of Aylah sent a white mule to the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) and also a sheet for him to wear. The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept him as the ruler of that place. Then when (after the end of the battle) he returned and reached Wadi al-Qura, the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked that woman: “How many dates were produced in your garden?” She replied: “Ten wasqs, just as you had estimated.” The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “I wish to reach Madinah quickly, so whoever among you can hasten to go with me, let him do so.” When Madinah came into view for the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said: “This is Taba (another name for Madinah) coming.” Then when he (peace be upon him) saw Uhud, he said: “This is the mountain that loves us and we love it. Shall I not tell you about the best houses among the houses of the Ansar?” The companions said: “Yes.” He (peace be upon him) said: “The houses of Banu Najjar, then the houses of Banu ‘Abd al-Ashhal, then the houses of Sa’idah, or (he said) the houses of Banu Harith ibn Khazraj. (These houses are the best, otherwise) there is goodness in all the houses of the Ansar.”
