Mukhtasar Bukhari

Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I submitted, “O Messenger of Allah! Please tell me, the acts of worship that I used to do in the state of ignorance, such as giving charity, freeing slaves, and maintaining ties of kinship—will I get any reward for them?” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “It is because of the good deeds you had already done that you became a Muslim (meaning you will get their reward), and you became a Muslim along with all those good deeds.”
