Hadith 647

Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We migrated with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) solely for the pleasure of Allah Almighty, so our reward became assured with Allah. Some of us are such that they passed away and did not take anything from their reward (in this world); among them was Sayyiduna Mus'ab bin Umair (may Allah be pleased with him). And some of us are those for whom their fruit ripened and they are picking and eating it. Sayyiduna Mus'ab bin Umair (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred on the day of Uhud, and we did not find anything from his belongings with which we could shroud him except a single sheet (and that too was so small that) if we covered his head with it, his feet would be exposed, and if we covered his feet, his head would be exposed. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed us to cover his head and to put idhkhir (a type of grass) on his feet.
