Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Ashab al-Suffah were some poor people, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said: "Whoever has food for two people should take a third (from among them), and if he has food for four, then let him take a fifth or a sixth from among them." And the Commander of the Faithful, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), took three people, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took ten. Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was there, and my parents. (The narrator of the hadith, Abu Uthman, said:) And I do not know whether he also said (or not) that my wife and our servant, who was shared between me and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), were also there. And Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) had dinner at the house of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and stayed there for a while where the Isha prayer was offered. After returning, he stayed for a while until the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) rested, then after that, as much of the night as Allah willed, he spent there (and then) came to his house. His wife said to him: Who kept you away from your guests? Or she said: From your guest? He replied: Did you not feed them? She said: They did not agree to eat until you came. The food was presented before them, but they refused. Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I, out of fear, went and hid. Then Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O you mean one!" and then scolded very harshly, and said to the guests: "Eat to your fill." After that, he said: "By Allah! I will never eat." Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) says: By Allah, whenever we took a morsel, it increased beneath it. Then, when all the guests were satisfied and more food was left than before, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) looked at it, and it was as much as before or even more. So he said to his wife: "O sister of Bani Firas! What is this matter?" She replied: "By the coolness of my eyes! Surely, it is now three times more than before." Then Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) ate from it and said: "This, that is, my oath, was from Satan." In the end, he took a morsel from it. After that, he took it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and in the morning it was still there. There was a treaty between us and a people, and its term had expired, so we separated twelve men. With each of them were some people—by Allah, I do not know how many people were with each person. All of them ate from that food, or he said something similar.
