Hadith 334

´Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that (one day) when the sun had declined, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and performed the Zuhr prayer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on the pulpit and mentioned the Day of Resurrection and stated: "There will be great events in it." After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wants to ask something, let him ask. Whatever you ask me, I will tell you as long as I am in this place." So the people wept a lot, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said several times: "Ask me." Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hudhafah Sahmi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and asked, "Who is my father?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your father is Hudhafah." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying: "Ask me." So the Commander of the Faithful, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), sat down on his knees and said: "We are pleased with Allah, Glorious is His Majesty, as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as our Prophet." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became silent. After that, he said that Paradise and Hell have just been presented before me in this corner of the wall; I have never seen anything as excellent (as Paradise) and anything as terrible (as Hell)."
