Hadith 287

Narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he demanded repayment of a debt from Ibn Abi Hadrad in the mosque. Their voices became loud until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard them while he was in his house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them, lifted the curtain of his chamber, and called out: "O Ka'b!" He replied, "At your service, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Reduce some of your debt," and he gestured, meaning half (reduce it by half). Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have reduced it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then said (to Ibn Abi Hadrad): "Get up and pay it."
