Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I abused a person (who was my slave), that is, I taunted him about his mother. (This news) reached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "O Abu Dharr! Did you taunt him about his mother? Indeed, you are a person in whom there is still some (remnant) of ignorance (jahiliyyah). Your slaves are your brothers. Allah has placed them under your authority. So, whoever has his brother under his authority, he should feed him what he himself eats and clothe him with what he himself wears, and (listen) do not make them do work that is too difficult for them, and if you do assign them such a task, then help them with it yourself."
