`Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that` a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I saw in a dream at night that there was a canopy (cloud) and from it ghee and honey were dripping, and people were collecting it, some more, some less. And I saw a rope extending from the sky to the earth, and I saw you (peace and blessings be upon him) holding it and ascending. Then after you, another person held it and he also ascended by it. Then another person held it and ascended, then after them another person held it, but the rope broke, and then it was joined again."
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to interpret this dream." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Alright, interpret it." He said, "The canopy is Islam, and the ghee and honey dripping from it is the Noble Qur'an and its recitation, and those who collect it are those who acquire the Qur'an, some more, some less. And the rope extending from the sky to the earth is the truth which Allah Almighty has revealed to you. By holding it, Allah will raise you up, and after you, another person will hold it and ascend, and then another person will ascend, and then another person will hold it, but the rope will break. Then it will be joined again, and he will also ascend. O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, tell me, did I interpret correctly or did I make a mistake?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have interpreted some correctly and made some mistakes." He said, "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, tell me what mistake I made." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not swear."
