Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would command people (to do good deeds), he would command them to do such deeds that they could (always) perform (he never encouraged them to perform burdensome acts of worship). (Once) the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! We are not like you. Surely Allah has forgiven all your past and future sins (therefore, we should worship more than you)." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry until the effect of anger appeared on his (blessed) face. Then he said: "I am the one among you who knows Allah the most and fears Him the most."
