Hadith 1979

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave a verdict regarding the case of two women from the tribe of Hudhail who had fought with each other. One struck the other, who was pregnant, on her belly with a stone, causing the child inside to die. This case was brought before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he ordered that a slave man or woman be given as blood money for the child. Upon hearing this, the heir of the woman who had struck said, "The child in the womb neither ate nor drank, nor spoke nor cried out, so how can there be blood money for it? It is something that can be overlooked." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He seems to be a brother of soothsayers."
