The hadith of Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) (Hadith, Book: Statement regarding Slaughter and Hunting... Chapter: Regarding Saying Bismillah on the Hunt...) has passed, and in this narration, there is this addition: ...and if you shot the game with an arrow and (after being wounded) you find it dead after two or three days, and if you do not notice any sign of its death except the wound from your arrow, then eating it is permissible. But if you find it fallen in water, then eating it is not permissible.
