Hadith 1917

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw a person throwing pebbles with two fingers, so he said to him, "Do not throw like this, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade this or considered it disliked (the narrator is uncertain), and he said that there is no benefit in it: neither is any game hunted nor is any enemy wounded, but (the pebble) may break someone's tooth or put out an eye (i.e., there is no benefit except harm)." After that, he saw him doing the same again and said, "I narrated to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he forbade or disliked throwing pebbles in this way, yet you are still doing it. Now I will not speak to you for such and such a period."
