Hadith 1902

Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that there was a man among the Ansar named Abu Shu’aib (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had a servant who was a butcher. He said to him, “Prepare food for me, for I will invite the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) along with five men.” Then he invited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) along with five men, but another person also followed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “You invited us five men, and this man has followed us. Now it is up to you; if you wish, you may allow him, or if you wish, you may not.” He said, “I have given him permission (i.e., let him also come).”
