Hadith 1836

Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a wealthy man passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "What do you say about this man?" They replied, "He is such a person that if he proposes (for marriage), his proposal will be accepted; if he intercedes for someone, his intercession will be accepted; and if he speaks, people listen attentively." (Sahl, may Allah be pleased with him, says) Then the Prophet remained silent. After that, another man who was poor and needy among the Muslims passed by, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "What do you say about this man?" They replied, "He is such a person that if he proposes (for marriage), his proposal will not be accepted; if he intercedes for someone, his intercession will not be accepted; and if he speaks, people do not listen attentively." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the earth were filled with such wealthy people, even then this poor man is better than all of them."
