It was said to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): "Every person is happy with the blessings he has received, and he also likes to be praised for deeds he has not done. And Allah has said that there will be punishment for this in the Hereafter. If this is the case, then surely all of us will be punished." So Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: "What concern do you have with this story? Indeed, this was revealed at the time when one day the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called some Jews and asked them about a matter of religion. They concealed the real matter and told something incorrect, then thought that they would be considered worthy of praise in the sight of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) because they had answered what he asked, and they were very pleased with this (deception and concealing the truth)."
