Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) to collect the khums, and I thought badly of him (because he had relations with a slave woman and) he performed ghusl there. I said to Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him), "Do you not see him?" When we came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I narrated this incident to him, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Buraidah! Do you harbor enmity against Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)?" I said, "Yes." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not harbor enmity against him, for his share in the khums is even greater than this. (Then he became beloved to me)."
