Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) to the tribe of Jadhima. Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) invited them to Islam. They could not say properly that "we have accepted Islam," but out of fear, they started saying, "we have changed our religion." Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) began to kill them and took some as prisoners, giving each of us a prisoner. Then one day he ordered that each person should kill his prisoner. I said, "I will never kill my prisoner, nor will any of my companions kill his prisoner." When we came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and narrated this incident to him, the Prophet (peace be upon him) raised his hands and said, "O Allah! I am free from what Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) has done." He said this twice.
