Hadith 1630

Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he participated in a jihad towards Najd with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned, he also returned with him, and they stopped for noon in a forest where there were many thorny trees. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dismounted there, and the people dispersed throughout the forest and rested in the shade of the trees. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) rested under a dense acacia tree and hung his sword on it. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We had barely slept for a short while when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called out to us. We came to him and saw that a Bedouin was sitting with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He drew my sword while I was sleeping. Meanwhile, I woke up and saw the naked sword in his hand. He began to say to me, 'Now tell me, who can save you from my hand?' I replied, 'Allah can save me.' So here he is, now sitting." But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not punish him.
