Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him): He was asked, "What was the most severe harm the polytheists caused to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" He replied, "While the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was praying in the Hatim of the Ka'bah, Uqbah bin Abi Mu'it came and put his garment around the neck of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and strangled him forcefully. At that moment, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, grabbed his shoulder, and separated him from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), saying, 'Do you kill a man merely because he says: My Lord is Allah... (the entire verse).' (Al-Mu’min: 28)"
