Mukhtasar Bukhari

`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) says that` I saw a dream during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) which I related to him. In my dream, I saw that it was as if I was in a garden and I praised its vastness and greenery, and in the middle of it there was an iron pillar whose base was in the ground and its top was in the sky, and there was a ring fixed at its upper end. Then it was said to me, "Climb up it." I said, "I do not have the strength (I cannot climb)." Then a servant came and lifted my clothes from behind, so I began to climb until I reached the top and I held onto that ring. Then it was said to me, "Hold it firmly." I kept holding that ring until I woke up from sleep. I related this dream to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: "The garden refers to the religion of Islam, and the pillar refers to the pillar of Islam (the testimony of faith or the five pillars), and the ring is the firm handhold (al-‘urwat al-wuthqa), and you will remain steadfast on Islam until your death."
