Mukhtasar Bukhari

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that it was said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Who is the most honorable among the people (in the sight of Allah)? The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "The most pious among them." The people said: We are not asking about this. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "(In terms of lineage and family nobility, the most virtuous was) Yusuf (peace be upon him), who was a prophet, the son of a prophet, the grandson of a prophet, and the great-grandson of a prophet, Allah's Khalil (peace be upon him)." They said: We are not asking about this either. So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Are you asking about the families of the Arabs? Those who were the best among the people in the days of ignorance are the best in Islam as well, provided they gain understanding of Islam (and acquire its knowledge)."
