Hadith 1405

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said: "Allah, the Exalted, will say (on the Day of Resurrection): 'O Adam!' He will reply: 'Here I am, ready to obey You, and all goodness is in Your Hands.' Then Allah will say: 'Bring forth the army of Hell (bring out the people destined for Hell).' He (Adam) will ask: 'How many should I bring out?' Allah will say: 'From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.' At that time (out of fear) a child will become old and every pregnant woman will miscarry, and you will see people as if they are intoxicated, though they will not be intoxicated, but the punishment of Allah is severe." The Companions said: "O Messenger of Allah! Who among us will be that one (who will go to Paradise) out of a thousand?" He (peace be upon him) said: "Rejoice! For every one of you, there will be a thousand from Ya'juj and Ma'juj (and other disbelievers)." Then he said: "By Him in Whose Hand is my soul! I hope that you will be one-fourth of the people of Paradise." We said (out of happiness): "Allahu Akbar!" Then he said: "I hope that you will be one-third of the people of Paradise." We again said: "Allahu Akbar!" He (peace be upon him) then said: "I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise." We again said: "Allahu Akbar!" Then he (peace be upon him) said: "You, among all the people, are like a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or a black hair on the skin of a white ox."
