Narrated Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that when the people of Khaybar broke the hands and feet of Abdullah bin Umar (i.e., himself), Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up to deliver a sermon and said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had made an agreement with the Jews of Khaybar regarding their wealth and had said: "As long as Allah keeps you established, we will also keep you established." (At that time this incident occurred that) Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) went to his property there, and he was wronged at night, and both his hands and feet were broken. And besides these Jews, we have no other enemy there; they are our enemies, and our suspicion is upon them. And now I consider it appropriate to expel them. Then, when Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) firmly resolved this matter, a person from the descendants of Abu Huqayq came and said: O Commander of the Faithful! Are you expelling us even though Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had established us and made an agreement with us regarding the wealth here, and had stipulated this condition for us? Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you think I have forgotten the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when he said: "What will be your condition when you are expelled from Khaybar, your camel carrying you repeatedly at night?" He said: This was a joke of Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O enemy of Allah! You are lying. Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) expelled them, and whatever they had—fruits, camels, and other belongings such as saddles and ropes, etc.—their price was given to them.
