Hadith 1190

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him): Both of them reported that a man from among the Bedouins came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I ask you by Allah to judge between us according to the Book of Allah." His opponent, who was more intelligent than him, said, "Yes, judge between us according to the Book of Allah, and allow me (to present my case)." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Present your case." He said, "My son was working as a laborer for this man, and he committed adultery with his wife. People informed me that my son was liable to be stoned to death, so I gave this man one hundred sheep and a slave girl (as compensation). Then I asked the people of knowledge, and they informed me that my son is liable to receive one hundred lashes and one year of exile, and that his wife is liable to be stoned to death." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I will judge between you according to the Book of Allah. The slave girl and the sheep will be returned to you, and your son will receive one hundred lashes and one year of exile. And O Unais! Go to this man's wife, and if she confesses, then stone her to death." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The woman confessed, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the punishment be carried out on her, and she was stoned to death.
