If someone finds a date on the road, should he pick it up?

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "When I return to my house, I find a date lying on my bed. Then I pick it up to eat it, but then I fear that it might be from charity, so I throw it away."
