Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that (on one occasion) a goat was milked for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he was in the house of Anas bin Malik. Water from the well in the house of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was mixed into the milk. Then the cup (bowl) was given to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he drank from it. When he removed the cup from his mouth, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was on his left side and a Bedouin was on his right side. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said—because he thought that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would give his leftover drink to the Bedouin—“O Messenger of Allah! Give it to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), he is sitting next to you.” But the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave his leftover drink to the Bedouin and said: “The one on the right has more right (to receive first), then whoever is on his right.”
