Hadith 1007

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that we were on a journey with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was riding a hot-tempered camel belonging to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). That camel would not stay under my control and would go ahead of all the people, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would scold it and make it fall back, but then it would go ahead again, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would again scold it and make it fall back. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): "Sell this camel to me." He replied, "O Messenger of Allah! It is yours." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(No, not like that) Sell it to me." So he sold that camel to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abdullah! The camel is yours, do with it as you wish." (That is, he gave it to him as a gift.)
