Virtue of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah
Hadith 1191
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الشِّيرَازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "مَا مِنْ أَيَّامِ الْعَمَلِ فِيهِنَّ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ ، قَالُوا : وَلا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : وَلا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِلا مَنْ عُقِرَ جَوَادُهُ وَأُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، إِلا الْوَلِيدُ ، وَلا عَنْهُ إِلا الْحَوْطِيُّ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more virtuous than the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah." The Companions asked: "Not even Jihad in the way of Allah?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Not even Jihad in the way of Allah, except (for that Jihad in which) a man goes out with his life and wealth and does not return with anything."
