Helping an oppressed or oppressing Muslim brother
Hadith 1163
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الصُّوفِيِّ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، صَاحِبُ الْمُصَلَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مَعْنٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَن ِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "انْصُرْ أَخَاكَ ظَالِمًا أَوْ مَظْلُومًا ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَنْصُرُهُ مَظْلُومًا ، فَكَيْفَ أَنْصُرُهُ ظَالِمًا ؟ ، قَالَ : تَرُدُّهُ عَنِ الظُّلْمِ ، فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ نَصْرُهُ مِنْكَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، إِلا عَلِيُّ بْنُ صَالِحٍ صَاحِبُ مُصَلَّى الْمَهْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ , حَدَّثَنَا الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، مِثْلَهُ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or oppressed." I said: O Messenger of Allah! I will help the oppressed, but how can I help the oppressor? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You stop him from oppression; that is your help to him."
