Guidance on how to treat and behave with the Quraysh
Hadith 1158
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ مَنْصُورٍ الْمُعَدِّلُ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ الْمَدِينِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "اسْتَقِيمُوا لِقُرَيْشٍ مَا اسْتَقَامُوا لَكُمْ ، فَإِذَا لَمْ يَفْعَلُوا فَضَعُوا سُيُوفَكُمْ عَلَى عَوَاتِقِكُمْ فَأَبِيدُوا خَضْرَاءَهُمْ ، فَإِذَا لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا فَكُونُوا حِينَئِذٍ زَارِعِينَ أَشْقِيَاءَ تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ كَدِّ أَيْدِيكُمْ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، إِلا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، وَعَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As long as the Quraysh remain upright with you, you also remain upright with them. But when they do not behave with you in this manner, then lift your swords onto your shoulders and destroy their green things, that is, destroy their group. If you do not do this, then you will become miserable farmers yourselves, eating from the labor of your own hands."
