Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is granted four things will also be given four things. Its explanation is in the Noble Qur'an: (1) Whoever is granted the ability to remember (dhikr), Allah also remembers him, because Allah says: ﴿فَاذْكُرُونِيأَذْكُرْكُمْ﴾ 'Remember Me, I will remember you.' (2) Whoever is granted the ability to supplicate (make du'a), Allah grants his supplication acceptance. Thus, Allah says: ﴿ادْعُونِيأَسْتَجِبْلَكُمْ﴾ 'Call upon Me, I will respond to you.' (3) Whoever is granted the ability to be grateful, Allah grants him more. Thus, Allah says: ﴿لَئِنْشَكَرْتُمْلَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ﴾ 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.' (4) Whoever is granted the blessing of seeking forgiveness (istighfar), Allah also grants him forgiveness. Thus, Allah says: ﴿اسْتَغْفِرُوارَبَّكُمْإِنَّهُكَانَغَفَّارًا﴾ 'Seek forgiveness from your Lord, indeed He is ever Forgiving.'"
