Hadith 1124
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَحْنَوَيْهِ بْنِ الْهَيْثَمِ الْبَرْذَعِيُّ ، بِمِصْرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْجُوزَجَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، صَاحِبُ الْمَغَازِي ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزَّمْعِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمِّي أَبُو الْحَرِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : "مَعْدُ بْنُ عَدْنَانَ بْنِ أَدِّ بْنِ أَدَدَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ بَرَاءِ بْنِ أَعْرَاقِ الثَّرَا قَالَ : ثُمَّ يَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَهْلَكَ عَادًا وَثَمُودَ وَأَصْحَابَ الرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ كَثِيرًا لا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلا اللَّهُ "، فَكَانَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ ، تَقُولُ : مَعْدُ مَعْدُ ، وعَدْنَانُ عَدْنَانُ ، وَأَدَدُ أَدَدُ ، زَيْدُ بْنُ هَمِيسَعَ ، وَبَرَاءُ نَبْتٌ ، وَأَعْرَاقُ الثَّرَى إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُوسَى
Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Ma‘ad bin Adnan bin Ad bin Add bin Zayd bin Bara’ are the roots of the earth." Then he said: "Allah Almighty destroyed ‘Ad, Thamud, the People of the Rass, and many other generations whom only Allah knows." Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: Ma‘ad is Ma‘ad, and Adnan is Adnan, and Add is Add, and Zayd bin Hamaysa‘, and Bara’ is Nabt, while the roots of the earth are Isma‘il bin Ibrahim (peace be upon them).
