Hadith 1122
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَسَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ بِمَدِينَةِ أَصْبَهَانَ سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَتِسْعِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، "تَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ : اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 102 ، فَقَالَ : لَوْ أَنَّ قَطْرَةً مِنَ الزَّقُّومِ قُطِرَتْ فِي بِحَارِ الدُّنْيَا أَفْسَدَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مَعَايِشَهُمْ ، فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَكُونُ طَعَامَهُ ! "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، إِلا شُعْبَةُ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: “Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims.” (Aal-e-Imran: 102) Then he said: “If a single drop of Zaqqum were to be dropped into the oceans of the world, it would ruin the lives of all the people of the world, so what will be the state of the person who eats it.”
